Dr Karishma Jeeboo

Position: Chair, Pharmacy Council of Guyana; Second Vice President and Education Chair, Caribbean Association of Pharmacists; Senior Lecturer, School of Pharmacy, University of Guyana
Qualifications: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), PG Dip Ed; Registered Pharmacist
My Passion: I am passionate about advancing pharmacy education, research, and clinical practice to improve patient care and health outcomes. My interests include pharmacotherapy and pharmacy practice research particularly in the areas of Mental Health and AMR, research in diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and cancer, alongside strengthening professional leadership and evidence-based policy.

My Passion: I am passionate about raising awareness on the critical role of pharmacy practice in optimizing health outcomes and endeavor to utilize my professional experiences to foster better cross-functional collaborations between private and public sector stakeholders. I am especially focused on ethical medication sourcing and dispensing practices and raising awareness about substandard and falsified medications and the risks to public health.; I am committed to fostering improved pharmaceutical governance, pharmacovigilance, rational drug use and advocating for robust professional stewardship to enhance pharmacy practice in Guyana.
