A Message from the Chair
Dear Pharmacists, Pharmacy Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Interns,
On behalf of the Pharmacy Council of Guyana, I extend warm greetings to every member of our pharmacy profession. Whether you practice in a hospital, community pharmacy, public health setting, regulatory affairs, industry, education, or another area of service, your knowledge, judgement, and conduct directly contribute to the health and well-being of the people of Guyana.
The Pharmacy Council exists to support the proper regulation and advancement of pharmacy practice, promote high standards of competence and professional conduct, and, above all, safeguard the public. This purpose is fulfilled not by regulation alone, but through the daily commitment of every pharmacy professional to practice responsibly, maintain competence and place the interests of patients and the public at the center of every decision.

This website is designed as a central resource for all pharmacy professionals, providing access to continuing pharmacy education, the online portal, regulatory guidance, important notices and other information to support professional practice and development.
Each of us has an important role to play. Pharmacists provide leadership and professional oversight; Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacy Technicians offer essential support in the safe and effective delivery of pharmacy services; and Pharmacy Interns represent the future of the profession as they develop the knowledge, skills and values required for independent practice. Our roles may differ, but we share one responsibility: to serve with integrity, accuracy, respect and accountability.
I therefore encourage every pharmacy professional to remain familiar with, and consistently uphold, the laws, regulations, standards and ethical obligations that govern their scope of practice. Let us protect patient confidentiality, communicate honestly, dispense and support the use of medicines with care, recognize the limits of our competence, and seek guidance whenever patient safety may be at risk. Continuing professional development, respectful collaboration and the timely reporting of unsafe or unethical practice are not optional ideals; they are essential to the trust placed in our profession.
As healthcare needs and pharmacy practice continue to evolve in Guyana, we must be willing to learn, adapt and lead. By maintaining high standards in every setting and at every level of responsibility, we strengthen public confidence, improve the quality of pharmacy services and create a profession in which future generations can take pride.
We must move forward together with a shared commitment to lawful, ethical and patient-centered practice. The Pharmacy Council of Guyana values your service and looks to each of you as a partner in advancing the profession for the greater good of pharmacy and the health of our nation.
